The AI-powered robot has been dubbed the “Queen of the robots” for its ability to navigate around London’s bustling streets.
But is it the answer to our most pressing problems?
Or just another distraction from our jobs?
It’s a question the robot is unlikely to answer in time for this week’s conference on artificial intelligence and artificial intelligence research at the Royal Institution in London.
The robot is called a “robot,” and the robot, named “Siri,” is the brainchild of a team of researchers at Imperial College London, including two scientists who were awarded the 2014 Fields Medal in their work.
“It’s like a Siri,” says Professor David Hirschhorn, a professor of psychology at Imperial.
“If you asked her what she thought of the Queen of the rovers, she would probably say, ‘Oh, she’s lovely,'” Hirsch, who heads the project, told The Globe and Mail.
“She’s got a very good understanding of where we are in terms of where she thinks we are.”

The Queen was developed at Imperial and has the ability to perform speech recognition and other tasks for its owners.
“I don’t know if she knows what she’s doing, but she can figure out how to interpret the speech,” Hirsch said.
The robotic Queen is also an autonomous learning machine.
“SIRI is the first machine to be trained by humans, which is exciting,” Hodge said.

“In addition to understanding the speech of the human, Siri can also understand and talk to the human,” he said.
There are a few challenges to using Siri for many of the tasks at hand.
For example, “The Queen” is capable of recognizing faces but cannot recognize objects.
“This is a problem with many autonomous learning systems.
It’s not really a problem for Siri, but we need to get it to learn,” Hirs said.
Hirsch is confident Siri can do the work for the tasks he has set out to tackle.
The system learns to recognize speech and to recognize objects, Hirsch explained.

The AI system has to recognize people, for example.
This is one of the challenges Hirsch and his team face.
HIRS says Siri is “quite capable” of recognizing people.

When the Queen first came into the room, she said she was very excited, but the Queen “has not been very successful at actually reading your voice.”
HIRIS said it’s too early to tell if the AI system can be used to learn from human speech.
“We’re still trying to figure out what we’re going to learn with this, so we’ll see,” Hische said.
A human will have to take the job on and the Queen, the Queen’s assistant, has to keep a close eye on her, the scientists said.
One of the biggest challenges for AI-enabled robots is getting humans to use them for tasks that humans have mastered.
Hichem says he is confident the AI technology will work.
It would be a shame if we let AI-driven robots run our world, Hicher said.

“The human will get more comfortable.”
Hiche said he and his colleagues are hoping the robot will be used by people who want to communicate.
His is also hoping that the robot’s ability to “see” in the dark is an advantage over the human.
“People will have a much easier time understanding that the human is not looking at them when they’re not looking,” he explained.
“They can understand what’s going on, they can understand the context, and then they can go and ask the human what they are looking at.”
