A Chinese-born Filipino woman who was once a “lucky” wife and mother was found dead in her hotel room in the Philippines on Wednesday, local media reported.
The death of the 59-year-old, named only as Yolanda, was first reported by local news agency Bernalillo Inquirer, but authorities later confirmed her death to the media.
The woman, who was married to a local Filipino, had reportedly been living in the city of San Fernando since her husband died in 2012, but the couple had split up and divorced earlier this year, according to local news outlet Rappler.
According to the Philippine News Agency, the couple reportedly divorced last month after five years of marriage.
Yolanda was described as being “lonely and shy,” according to her husband, who said she had recently been married to someone else.
The couple’s two children, ages 12 and 13, were reportedly living with her.
Authorities reportedly have not yet identified the woman’s cause of death.
According the Philippine National Police, the death is being investigated as a suicide.
